Several of us raised sponsorship on the last council call, and I offered to gather views before we take a proposal to the association's staff. At present each chapter finds its own sponsors. Larger chapters manage well, while smaller ones tell me they have neither the contacts nor the time.
My proposal is that the association introduces its national sponsors to chapters on request, with a simple menu: 1,500 dollars for a single event, 4,000 for a year. In return chapters agree common rules, such as no sales presentations and no sharing of the attendee list. Would your chapter use this, and what rules would you want? Replies by the 28th, please, so that I can write it up.

We would use it straight away. Our chapter has run on about 2,000 dollars a year from one local sponsor, and when their contact left the company the support went with them. On rules, I would add that the sponsor gets a two-minute welcome and a table, nothing more, and that the chapter and not the sponsor chooses the speaker.

A caution from a larger chapter. We have four local sponsors who each pay more than your annual figure, and I would not want a national menu to become the ceiling they point to at renewal. Could the menu be described as a minimum for chapters without existing arrangements, leaving the rest of us free to negotiate?
