Any reward people in West Africa here, and where do you find market data?

I joined this week. I am a compensation and benefits officer at a consumer goods distributor in Accra with about 800 employees in Ghana and a smaller operation in Côte d'Ivoire. I moved into the role from finance eighteen months ago.

The surveys I have been offered mostly cover multinationals, and their figures are a long way from what local firms like ours pay. For many of our jobs I end up phoning contacts at other companies, which does not feel very rigorous.

Is anyone else here working in the region? I would like to know what sources you trust and how you deal with jobs that no survey covers.
