HR operations lead at a hospital group in Pune, now learning pay structures

I have worked in HR operations for nine years, the last five at a private hospital group in Pune with four hospitals and about 5,200 staff. From this month I have taken on compensation alongside my existing work, after our previous compensation manager moved abroad.

Hospital pay is complicated in ways I am only starting to see: doctors on retainers and fee shares, nurses on grades with shift allowances, and a large outsourced workforce. Nursing attrition is our biggest concern.

I am hoping to learn how others structure nursing pay and progression, and to meet anyone working in healthcare reward in India or elsewhere. I will read first and ask questions as I go.
