This came to us from the membership team, who report that mentors in the association's programme regularly ask whether their time counts towards recertification. At present it does not. Teaching a course earns credit, and so does writing for the journal, but mentoring earns nothing.
I am inclined to support it, with limits. My draft proposal is one credit for every five documented hours, capped at four credits per three-year cycle, for mentors only. The difficult part is evidence: what would we accept as proof that the mentoring took place and had professional content? I would like views before I put a motion to the meeting on the 9th.
